About us

Marcus Rivera

Owner & garage door specialist · Nashville Garage Pros

I started Austin Electric Pros after 10 years working for a large electrical contractor — the kind of company where you're a truck number, not a name. I wanted to build something different: a small operation where every customer gets my direct number, I show up when I say I will, and I never recommend work that doesn't need doing. We handle everything from panel upgrades and EV chargers to ceiling fans and troubleshooting calls. Licensed in Texas, bonded, and insured. Free estimates on every job.

Common questions

Garagedoor FAQ

Answers to the questions Austin residents ask most.

Call with a question
How much does garage door spring repair cost?

Replacing a single torsion spring costs $150–$250 including labor. Replacing both springs (always recommended) runs $200–$350. We stock springs for all residential door sizes and complete most repairs the same day you call.

How long do garage door springs last?

Standard springs are rated for 10,000 cycles — about 7 years for a family using the door 4 times daily. High-cycle springs (25,000+ cycles) are available and worth the small upgrade cost. When one breaks, always replace both — the other is equally worn.

Can I replace a garage door spring myself?

We strongly advise against it. Torsion springs are under extreme tension and can cause severe injury if they snap during winding. This is one of the most dangerous DIY repairs a homeowner can attempt. A professional repair costs far less than an ER visit.

How much does a new garage door cost installed?

A new single-car door installed runs $700–$1,500 for standard steel. Double-car doors run $900–$2,500. Insulated, wood, or carriage-house styles cost more. Adding a new opener is $250–$500 extra. Most installs are completed same day or next day.

Why won't my garage door close all the way?

Most common causes: misaligned safety sensors (check if the lights are solid green), an obstruction in the door's path, a limit switch needing adjustment, or worn rollers causing binding. Check the sensors first — even slight misalignment prevents closing as a safety feature.
